I am directed by Secretary Sir William Joynson-

Hicks to refer to your letter F 9263/310/87 of the 22nd

December last and previous correspondence in regard to the

leakage of Indian opium from Kwang-Chow-Wan, and to

enclose, for the information of Secretary Sir Austen

Chamberlain, a copy of a report to the League of Nations

by the Portuguese Government of seizures of opium at

Macao, circulated to the Opium Advisory Committee as

League Document 0.0.721. It will be observed that

11,562 taels of Indian opium are reported to have been

seized.

A similar communication has been sent to the

India Office.
